The following is taken from "John Adams and His Descendants" by Gardner AdThe following is taken from "John Adams and His Descendants" by Gardner Adams. Alpheus was the "home boy," and undertook the care and maintenance of his parents during life. By great energy and perseverance, combined with a good trade, he managed to pay off quite an encumbrance on the farm, support two families, rear six children, and emerge from it all free from debt. In 1836 he sold the farm (then in a high state of cultivation) to the town, and removed to Nashua, N.H., where his oldest son then resided. After remaining there about ten years, he returned to Franklin, and built him a house near the corner of Pleasant and Main Streets.

Partridge Ascha [Female] b. 4 MAR 1787 MA - d. 25 JAN 1868 Franklin, MA

[Ebenezer.FTW]

The following is taken from "John Adams and His Descendants," by Gardner AThe following is taken from "John Adams and His Descendants," by Gardner Adams following extracts from an obituary notice of Mrs. A.P. Adams, written by her favorite pastor (Rev. Mr. Pelton), and printed in "The Congregationalist," are inserted as a faithful record of her history:-
" Died in Franklin, Mrs. Ascha P. Adams, of pleuropneumonia. Anoth " Died in Franklin, Mrs. Ascha P. Adams, of pleuropneumonia. Another valuable life is closed. The fourscore years of this 'elect lady' formed a life of more than ordinary interest. Not behind any, perhaps, as a stirring, prudent housewife, or faithful Christian mother, in consistent devotion to truth and righteousness for fifty-eight years in the church she was conspicuous. Her faith was that which works by love. She was one of those who urged, and finally established, the Sabbath school, almost under the protest of Dr. Emmons, more than fifty years ago. When the infirmaties of age prevented her presence in the public assembly, or deafness hindered such enjoyment, it was her delight to meet her sisters at her room. She was among the foremost in active benevolence, working with her own hands more than most for the needy. After the death of her husband, sixteen years since, in the retirement of home with her children, she still endeavored to do what she could for others. There she might be seen, now quietly tripping about the house and yard, caring for flowers about the door, or plants in the window; now in her room, neat and tidy, with Bible, Watts, religious books and papers; now with needles, patchwork, or garments for the destitute,- a Dorcas truly, to the last. There was no useless part of her long life."
