Years went by and they later move to Reading, Mass., a short distance from Wakefield.

He later attended high school in Wakefield, hut left at the end of his 3rd year. While there, he played football and one of his classmates was Charles Henry Studley, Jr., his future brother-in-law. After college, he was employed by the Charles Buck and Son, Hides and SkiAfter college, he was employed by the Charles Buck and Son, Hides and Skins in March of 1899 as a bookkeeper. He later became a buyer for the company, traveling for them to buy hides and skins. Henry was a business representative for the leather industry.

Personally, I have a lot of pictures of Henry from a young age to his begiPersonally, I have a lot of pictures of Henry from a young age to his beginning adult years. He was a good looking chap. I lived with my grandfather for a few years and he took his work very seriously. He was stoic in nature and he loved his cat and crossword puzzles. He never drove a car that I know of and every working day, he would walk to the Boston and Maine railroad station in No. Wilmington to catch his train to Boston each day.

He thought the world of my mother, Dorothy Rodden Park.He thought the world of my mother, Dorothy Rodden Park.

Healthwise, Henry was a very lucky man. His health was very good until aboHealthwise, Henry was a very lucky man. His health was very good until about six months before he passed away. He rests in the Highland Cemetery, Norwood, Mass. along with his sister, mom and dad, plus his Dunway aunts.

Dunway are buried near our Grandfather, Henry Montgomery Park She also had some half-brothers, also ministers, and their last name was SIMPSON. They moved to British Columbia, Canada.

Transcription from “Portrait and Biographical Record of Suffol k County (LTranscription from “Portrait and Biographical Record of Suffol k County (Long Island) New York”: “GEORGE B. STUDLEY. Suffolk Co unty seems to be peculiarly favorable to young men; at any rat e here they seem to come to the front and take hold of things i n that large and breezy way that people sometimes fancy is foun d only in the far West. Not yet forty years of age, Mr. Studle y has won a large place in the affairs of the world, and his fri ends are justified ili the expectation of greater things to come . He is the son of Hiram Studley, who was the founder of the Ne w York Transfer Company. The latter first started in business li fe with the Adams Express Company. He was succeeded by Mr. Dodd . At the time of his father's death our subject was engaged in t he transfer business. All railroad business along the Hudson Riv er, and steamboat traffic was in his hands, and he had the contr act to carry the mails between the depot and the postoffice an d also had a custom house contract. All this business his fathe r had developed, and it passed to his son at the time of his dea th, which occurred in 1875 at the age of fifty-three. He was mar ried to Miss Elvira Shorey,and left three children. Harriet B. i s the wife Rev. D. S. McCaslin, D. D., of Minneapolis; George B , was the second child; Ella, the yomigcst daughter, is now dead . The wife and mother
is still living at the age of sixty-three. Mr. Studley was reare d in Nis still living at the age of sixty-three. Mr. Studley was reare d in New York City, attended its public schools, and was a gradu ate of the College of the City of New York. He began business li fe by a three-years' engagement with the American Bank Note Comp any. In 1879 he went to San Francisco, Cal., and for some thre e years engaged in the wholesale fruit business. Afterward he tu rned his attention to the study of law, and, entering the offic e of Judge Robinson at San Francisco, was occupied in that stud y for three years [In the 1880 census, George is a clerk in la w office in Oakland, California]. He then found his way back t o the East again, and, locating in the familiar scenes of his ch ildhood, began the practice of law in New York. Here he was earn estly occupied for some three years, to the detriment of his hea lth, and on this account was compelled to
seek the quiet of the country. He removed to Brentwood, where h e found reseek the quiet of the country. He was one of the promoters of the Austral Ho tel Company, which is one of the great enterprises of the coast . He is interested in it as a stockholder, and has served most e fficiently as one of the directors of the. establishment. The ho tel was erected in 1890 at a cost of $160,000. The land, and al l the improvements connected with the erection of this great bui lding, are estimated to be worth more than $200,000. The hotel h as one hundred and thirty-five rooms, and can accommodate two hu ndred and twenty-five guests. There are two hundred and sixty ac res connected with the hotel property, part of which has been se t aside as a public park. Mr. Studley was elected a Justice of t he Peace in 1891, and has filled the duties of this position fo r three years. He is now one of the men who are engaged in organ izing a company to build an electric railroad from Babylon to Pa tchogue along the bay shore, by way of Brentwood and the northea st. He was married in 1891 to Miss Mary C. Spaulding, and they h ave one child, George B., Jr. Mr. Studley is a member of the Pre sbyterian Church, and is a Republican in politics.”

Supposedly betwee n 1896 and 1904, George and Mary [Spaulding] Studley were livin g at Brentwood, Long Island, New York per the “Portrait and Biog raphical Record of Suffolk County (Long Island) New York Howeve r, the 1900 US Federal Census for Islip, Suffold, New York give s their residence as being on Brentwood Road in Islip. He owns t he property but it has a mortgage. He and Mary C [Spaudling] Stu dely [sic Studley] have their son Barrett in their household. Ge orge is in “real estate”, which matches the information in “Port rait and Biographical Record of Suffolk County (Long Island) Ne w York”. George and Mary have been married six years. Mary has b orn two children, but only Barrett is living.

George and Mary have been married 16 years. Mary has born tw o children and both are living. This statement does not agree wi th the 1900 census that states that she has born two children an d only one is living. Both children have attended school in th e past year.

Apparently the hotel and railroad scheme was not as much of a su cceApparently the hotel and railroad scheme was not as much of a su ccess as anticipated, because in 1920, 58-year old George Studle y has moved into a rented apartment at 243 New York Avenue in Br ooklyn, Kings, New York with his 62-year old wife, Mary, 24-yea r old son George (recorded as Barrett by the census taker), an d 16-year old daughter Grace. He is a real estate broker. His so n, Barrett is doing “research in advertising”. Grace has attende d school in the past year.

George is a real estate broker and Grace is a lib rarian. Both have worked on the day preceding the census. They h ave a radio. George is recorded as having been married for 34 ye ars which would put his wife Mary’s death at about 1925.
