Mr. George M. Blake died at his home in Ravenna on Monday, after an illne Mr. George M. Blake died at his home in Ravenna on Monday, after an illness of five weeks. He was born in Rindge, N. H., in 1920, and was married there to Miss Mary Lovejoy. They came west in the early 50's, locating in that town. A wife, two sons, and one daughter, Frank E. and Edwin G. Blake of Ravenna, and Mrs. E. J. Day, of Wolf Creek, Wis., are left to survive him. He was one of our well known and highly esteemed farmers, a kind and loving husband and father, and his death is universally mourned. The funeral was held from the house on Wednesday, at ten a. m., the Rev. E. R. Lathrop officiating. Internment in the cemetery at Ravenna.

Francis E. Blake, a very fine Christian character, highly regarded and weFrancis E. Blake, a very fine Christian character, highly regarded and well spoken of by all, passed away Thursday, June 6 at the home of his son George A. Blake, with whom he made his home for a good many years. Death was attributed to various injuries received in a series of falls and complicated with a slight paralytic stroke accompanying the last fall, which he suffered several weeks ago. He had a very severe fall on the ice March 4, and suffered a concussion of the brain from which he never recovered.
Although he was able to be up and around when he had the second fall his cAlthough he was able to be up and around when he had the second fall his condition grew worse daily in spite of good medical care and the tender ministrations of his loved son and daughter-in-law, while during the last week of his illness, Mrs. L. A. Dreese assisted in caring for him.
During his entire illness he was a very patient sufferer and no complaiDuring his entire illness he was a very patient sufferer and no complaint passed his lips, but bore his sufferings unflinchingly and with Christian fortitude. He was very grateful for the loving and good care bestowed upon him.
The funeral rites were held Sunday afternoon, June 9, Student pastor AlfrThe funeral rites were held Sunday afternoon, June 9, Student pastor Alfred Grossman of the First Lutheran church conducting a very nice prayer service at the Blake home at two o'clock and at three o'clock from the First Lutheran church across the way from the Blake home where he loved to attend the services when his health permitted.
Mr. Grossman preached a comforting sermon that brought cheer and peaMr. Grossman preached a comforting sermon that brought cheer and peace to the sorrowing family in their hour of bereavement and also sang two hymns, "Rock of Ages," and "Some Day the Silver Cord will Break." The church organist, Miss Linnea Melby, play his accompaniments.

Francis E. Blake was born in the state of New Hampshire, February 9, 185Francis E. Blake was born in the state of New Hampshire, February 9, 1852, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Blake in a family of three boys and one girl. When Francis was two years old, the family came to Minnesota and settled on a farm in Ravenna township and here he was raised and spent practically all of his life farming on the home farm. He was a good farmer, a hard worker and toiled from early morning until late at night to make a comfortable living for his family.
He was united in marriage to Miss Freda Johnson, a native of Norway and thHe was united in marriage to Miss Freda Johnson, a native of Norway and their union was a very happy and congenial one. They were blessed with a family of several sons and a daughter, all of whom with the exception of George passed away in infancy.
The death of his dearly beloved wife in 1913was a sorrow to which he nevThe death of his dearly beloved wife in 1913was a sorrow to which he never became reconciled and he missed her more and more as time went on. About a year or so after her death, he sold his farm in Ravenna and went to St. Croix Falls Wis., where he made his home with his only brother Edward Blake. In 1927, he returned to Hastings and made his home with his son and daughter-in-law where he had a very pleasing and happy home with everything being done for his comfort and in which he was very contented.
Mr. Blake was a very good and kindly man, performing many acts of chariMr. Blake was a very good and kindly man, performing many acts of charity and was a staunch friend, dependable and honest as the day is long. As a neighbor he was willing to help when called upon at any time or any occasion. He is survived by a grand-daughter Marjorie Elaine Blake and his 81 year old brother, Edward Blake of St. Croix Falls, Wis.
