[ii] Pelatiah was the son of Dea. Jonathan and Jemima (Mann) Everett. His family removed to Westminster about 1760, where he later learned the trade of a saddler and a harness-maker. He filed a marriage intention 7 April 1773 to Rebecca Hoar, however no record of marriage was found. [iii] He married (1) at Westminster, Mass. January 1785, Mary Cutting. [iv] She died at Westminster 28 April 1800. [v] He married (2) at Westminster 25 April 1802, Dorcas Fessenden. [vi] She was born February, 1780 (calc.); died at Westminster, Mass. 2 January 1840, aged 60 yrs. 11 mos. [vii]

Pelatiah transferred to 1st Massachusetts, 12 June 1783, and served to 3 NPelatiah transferred to 1st Massachusetts, 12 June 1783, and served to 3 November 1783. In 1784, in company with his friend and fellow Original Member of the Massachusetts Society of the Cincinnati, Captain William Mills, he bought the so-called 'Pond House' at Westminster. There they opened a store and a 'publick house', which he kept until 1796. He later sold out in 1805 and moved to the western edge of town.

He was granted a Bounty Land Warrant 31 December 1795, and applied for a sHe was granted a Bounty Land Warrant 31 December 1795, and applied for a soldiers pension 8 April 1818, aged 68 yrs. [viii] Pelatiah was an Original Member of the Massachusetts Society of the Cincinnati from 1783 to 1821. He was buried at the Woodside Cemetery, Westminster, Mass. [ix]

In a letter written the year after he graduated and addressed to a frienIn a letter written the year after he graduated and addressed to a friend, Knowles comments on the recent meeting of the United Brothers Society, a debating society at Brown University, and on its debate about abolition in particular. He notes his own opinions in the matter and which abolitionists were present (Mrs. Lydia Childs among them). Knowles then mentions a trip he took and the people he met (presumably people they both knew). He concludes the letter by noting that "my views and opinions have undergone such changes of late, that I've no confidence in any of the old stock. In fact, I shouldn't be half as much surprised as some other persons would be, if within a year I should be a confirmed and fanatical ultra in everything". In a postscript he makes passing reference to currency problems in Providence and Boston.
