CLOYCIE E. MANNCLOYCIE E. MANN
On November 11, we released to the Lord a man like no other. Cloycie MaOn November 11, we released to the Lord a man like no other. Cloycie Mann was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and leader. For 84 years he was a blessing and hero to all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Mann, and his three sons, Wayne MaHe is survived by his loving wife, Jane Mann, and his three sons, Wayne Mann, Art (Ann) Mann, Gary (Mary) Man; his six grand children, Tami (Boyd) Darlow, Kim (Chris) Williams, Doug (Heidi) Mann, Molly (Todd) Plummer Bridget (Keith) Thompson, Darcey Wells and nine great-grandchildren.
After losing both of his parents at a very young age, he went to work at wAfter losing both of his parents at a very young age, he went to work at whatever job he could get and taught himself whatever it took to succeed at that job.
On June 21, 1941, he married young Jane Weidman. Together they raised theOn June 21, 1941, he married young Jane Weidman. Together they raised their three young boys with love, dedication, hard work, and strong morals. They took care of each other, their family and everyone they knew for 61 years.
Cloycie began his 30 years of dedication to the Forest Service in 194Cloycie began his 30 years of dedication to the Forest Service in 1949. He went to work on the Mann Gulch Fire and it was soon discovered that he had great skill in working with men and horses and he quickly became the fire boss. His official title with the Forest Service was maintenance foreman, but he was a jack- of- all- trades. He could handle a 500-man crew or turn a bunch of young college students into superb trail builders. He taught them more than building trails; they learned a philosophy of life and work and they learned how to respect the outdoors. He was a hard worker and always said that he would not ask someone else to do something that he would not do himself. He retired with love and respect in 1980.
In 1987, he began a courageous battle with cancer. Through the whole tim In 1987, he began a courageous battle with cancer. Thanks to endless care and selfless dedication from his wife, he was able to remain in his home. He died peacefully in his home with his loved ones by his side.
