Heaton, daughter of Isaac and Lydia (Longfellow) Heaton, of that place. Mrs. Leighton was born and reared at Machias and prior to her marriage had been a successful and popular teacher in the public schools of her native town. Mr. and Mrs. Leighton became the parents of seven children, all of whom were born in Minneapolis except the eldest. (Mabelle, b. 1876).
