Graveside service with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2Graveside service with military honors will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, in Linwood Cemetery in Galesburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW, American Legion, The Village Church in Lacombe, La., or the Senior Citizens Center in Slidell.
Cliff was born March 25, 1917, in Spickard, Mo., the son of Crete and LCliff was born March 25, 1917, in Spickard, Mo., the son of Crete and Lee Kincade. He married Waneta Cummings on April 5, 1942, in Trenton, Mo., and enjoyed a 65-year marriage.
Cliff retired from Santa Fe Railroad, Chillicothe. He was a veteran of WWICliff retired from Santa Fe Railroad, Chillicothe. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Army in the South Pacific. Clifford was honored to receive the NOBC award. Cliff was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Peoria Sportsmen's Club, was a Kentucky Colonel and was a diehard Cardinals fan.
Survivors and spouses include his daughter, Patricia (Jon) Hallberg-HalSurvivors and spouses include his daughter, Patricia (Jon) Hallberg-Hall; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Fran Cummings of Galesburg; a niece, Betty Lou (Harold) Wilson of Galesburg; and a nephew, Donald (Joyce) Norris of Knoxville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Waneta; stepson and daughter-in-law, Phil and Marge Cummings; his parents; and siblings Clint, Carl, Nina, Frannie, Rosie and Mackie.

Funeral services for John E. Powell, 58 years old, will be held at 2 p.Funeral services for John E. Powell, 58 years old, will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Jenkins and Brown Funeral Home. The Rev. L. J. Lunsford, pastor of the Riverside M. P. Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Beverly Hills Memorial Park. Mr. Powell, prominent in mining circles, died of injuries received while at work in the Bertha Mine Friday night. He was formerly affiliated with the Kelly Creek Collieries, Company, and had spent many years as a foreman and supervisor in mines of this district. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Rachel Powell, and the following children: John T., Frank, and James Powell of this city; Mrs. William King and Mrs. Sarah Ann Hager of Maidsville; Mrs. Esther J. Lemons of Bertha, and Mrs. Ann Saddler at home. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren.
