Severa; pages were written on her growth rate, how playful she was, and how fond she was of her Pappa. At 7 mo. they started to drive from Lookinglass, Or. to British Columbia. They fit a mattress behind a seat in a covered wagon, and started their adventure.

There she atarted a bank account with 25 cents from Aunt Eloise, 10 cents from her Grandpa Andrus, 10 cents from Aunt Alice, and a 50 cent piece from Uncle Will.
Her pappa gave her a $1.00 at the time of 1 year. When she was 16 mo. oHer pappa gave her a $1.00 at the time of 1 year. When she was 16 mo. old Mamma took her on the train from kamloops to Roseburg, Or. She had fun running in the train depot in Seattle. When she was 19 mo. old Mamma was confined for 11 wks. in Roseburg, and she stayed with her Grandmother in Lookinglass, until her baby brother, Arthur Hart was born Aug, 17, 1913, and brought home.

They went to Portland, rade a street car, and visited her Grandparents, at Gladstone, and her Grandma in Dayton, Aunt Mattie, and Bud Shields in Portland, and on home on the train, getting to Kamploops homestead with a pair of mules.
Hazel loved music, and animals. When she was 2 1/2 the family moved inHazel loved music, and animals. When she was 2 1/2 the family moved into the Tranquille Valley where there was no road. It was so rough, she was put in a box strapped onto a pack mule. Soon after they went by muleback around by Pass Lake to Mr. Rieds place, about 14 mi. She rode in front of her Pappa in the saddle.

At 3 1/2 she went on horseback with her Pappa 4 mi. to the end of the road, then in a wagon 8 mi. to the Sanatariom, then on horseback 2 mi. to Mrs Tresengs, where they stayed overnight. Next day another 3 mi. to Bakers, and visited where her Pappa was working. She asked if there was any water in this dry country? By the time she was four she could remember Bible verses, and asked questions about her brother Floyd LaVerne, born at Mrs Davis house July 3/rd. 1915.

In the Tranquille Valley she was welcomed with a sister, Violet Eloise July 10/th. 1922 weighing 6 1/2 lb. Violet had red hair like her brother Arthur, and favored her Aunt Eloise. ANDRUS, Arthur Hart - Age 77 of Roseburg, passed away on Friday, June 2ANDRUS, Arthur Hart - Age 77 of Roseburg, passed away on Friday, June 21, 1991 in a local hospital. He was born August 17, 1913 in Roseburg. On July 25, 1936 in Roseburg he married Esther Boock. Mr. Andrus lived in the Roseburg-Lookingglass area most of his life and for a short time lived in Lakeview, Oregon. Arthur built a well-drilling rig and formed a partnership with his brother Floyd called Andrus Brothers. They later built and operated a sawmill. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Esther Andrus; two daughters, Artha Goetz and her husband, Larry and Dorothy Thompson and her fiancée, James Sackett all of Roseburg; one brother, Floyd Andrus and his wife, Ferne of Roseburg; two sisters, Violet Burgess and her husband, Cecil and Zerita Rose and her husband Bruce all of Springfield; a sister-in-law, Marion Andrus of Eugene; seven grandchildren and their spouses; one granddaughter Mary Resner, they raised as a daughter and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ivan and Kenneth and a sister, Hazel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 1991 at 11 AM in the LONG & SHUKLE MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Chaplain Louise Helleck will officiate. Long & Shukle Memorial Chapel in in charge of arrangements.

ANDRUS, Floyd Laverne – 89 of Roseburg passed away at the Roseburg VA MediANDRUS, Floyd Laverne – 89 of Roseburg passed away at the Roseburg VA Medical Center, Friday, May 06, 2005. He was born in Tranquile, B.C., Canada on July 3, 1915 to Nelson and Jennie (Hart) Nelson, of Lookingglass, OR. Floyd served his country during WWII as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was in the Parachute Infantry on the European front, during the D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, and the final assault on the German home land campaigns. On November 8, 1947, Floyd married Ferne Fautheree in Roseburg, OR. He supported his family by working in the lumber industry for many years. Floyd was a past governor and held fellowship degree of the Roseburg Moose Lodge #1037. He loved to go hunting with his friends, Don Lands and Vergo Ligon, and fishing on the Oregon coast at Florence with Don Koch. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, sister Hazel, and brothers Arthur, Ivan, and Kenneth. Survived by his wife of 57 years Ferne Andrus of Roseburg, son Andrew Fautheree of Pagosa Springs, CO, granddaughters Tami Jo Braz and her husband Barry of Oakland, OR, Andrea R. Fautheree of Pagosa Springs, CO, and sisters Violet Burgess and Zerita Rose of Springfield, OR. A visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Monday, May 9, 2005, at LONG AND SHUKLE MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2005 within the grounds of Roseburg Memorial Gardens.

THE ACFT CRASHED DURING THE APPROACH TO LAND AT A FOGGED IN ARPT AT NIGHTHE ACFT CRASHED DURING THE APPROACH TO LAND AT A FOGGED IN ARPT AT NIGHT. SOMETIME BETWEEN 2045 AND 2100 YST AN ACFT WAS HEARD OVERFLYING THE ARPT AT NUIQSUT. THE VILLAGER WHO HEARD THE ACFT STATED THE NOISE DECREASED AS THOUGH THE ACFT WAS LANDING. HE THEN HEARD A SOUND DESCRIBED AS A PIECE OF METAL ROOFING SLIDING ACROSS GRAVEL. HE THOUGHT THE ACFT HAD LANDED BUT DID NOT SEE ANY LIGHTS ON THE RWY. HE ALSO STATED HE COULD NOT SEE ACROSS THE RWY DUE TO THE FOG. ACCORDING TO THE PASSENGERS WHO FLEW OUTBOUND TO DEADHORSE WITH THIS PLT THE LIGHTS IN THE COCKPIT WERE MARGINAL AND THE PLT USED A FLASHLIGHT SOME OF THE TIME. A COUPLE OF TIMES ACCORDING TO A PASSENGER GOING TO DEADHORSE THE ACFT'DROPPED' WHEN THE PLT LOST SIGHT OF LIGHTS ON THE GROUND. THE PLT WAS ALONE ON THE RETURN TRIP. THE PLT ALSO HAD A HISTORY OF HYPERTENSION AND WAS TAKING MEDICINE FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

She was born Dec. 9, 1881 at Oaksdale, Wash., the daughter of Riley and OrShe was born Dec. 9, 1881 at Oaksdale, Wash., the daughter of Riley and Orphelia Mattoon Andrus. She was married to James Saunders Wakefield Sept. 29, 1909 at Brownsville Ore. He predesceased her in 1948. The family lived in Dayton for many years where Mrs. Wakefeld was the librarian for a time.
