Jas. Andrus died Tuesday evening at his home in Edwardsburg, after an illnJas. Andrus died Tuesday evening at his home in Edwardsburg, after an illness of several months. Deceased was seventy three years of age and leaves three sons, W. R. Andrus of Michigan City, George of Akron, O., and Henry of Edwardsburg, also a sister, Mrs. Porter Lybarker of Mason and one brother, who lives in the west. The funeral services will be held this afternoon at the home, conducted by Rev. Anderson and internment will be made in Pleasant Lake cemetery in Edwardsburg.

James H. Andrus passed away Tuesday night, at his home in this village, agJames H. Andrus passed away Tuesday night, at his home in this village, aged 73 tears, 7 months and 7 days.
He was born in Ontwa township , on what is now known as the Sanders farHe was born in Ontwa township , on what is now known as the Sanders farm, on the north bank of Eagle lake, July 30th, 1837, and remained a resident of this township until 1860, when he went to Kansas, where he was united in marriage Oct. 7th of that year to Miss Cylinda Haring , who had moved to Kansas with her parents the same year. In 1862 Mr. Andrus returned with his family to Michigan, locating in Edwardsburg, but soon after moved to Mason Township and later to Calvin township. In 1869 the family returned to Edwardsburg, where the subject of this sketch remained until the time of his death. He was the father of four children-Henry, of this place; Wm. Riley, of Michigan City, Ind.; George S., of Akron, O., and Cora M., who died in 1877. He also leaves one brother, Riley of Dayton, Oregon; one sister, Mrs. Porter Lybarker, of Mason township, and 6 grandchildren. Mrs. Andrus died Oct. 4th, 1903.

The deceased was quiet and unobtrusive, but was in every respect a reliabThe deceased was quiet and unobtrusive, but was in every respect a reliable citizen and always true to his conceptions of duty. By his uprightness of character he won the regard of those among whom his entire life had been passed, and his sons and those who were best acquainted with him will continue to admire his kindly heart and generous impulses. He has passed to the spirit side of life, but we shall ever cherish the memory of our dead.

Eliza, wife of Henry Childs, died at her home, 1343 Vistula Ave., South BeEliza, wife of Henry Childs, died at her home, 1343 Vistula Ave., South Bend, at 5:35 o'clock Thursday morning, Oct. 25th, 1894, after an illness of 14 weeks, aged 54 years, 8 months and 13 days.
Eliza Andrus was born in this township, Feb. 12th, 1840, and was unitEliza Andrus was born in this township, Feb. 12th, 1840, and was united in marriage to Henry R. Childs, March 8th, 1864. She was the mother of three children, one dying in infancy. Her husband and two children---Mrs. Minnie Sudarth and Edwin F. Childs---survive her. She also leaves three brothers and two sisters--Nelson Andrus of Dayton, Wash.; Riley Andrus of Looking Glass, Oregon; James H. Andrus of this place; Mrs. George Mann and Mrs. Porter Lybarker, of Mason Township.

Mr. Lykarber, who was called by death at 2:40 o'clock yesterday-his 82 birMr. Lykarber, who was called by death at 2:40 o'clock yesterday-his 82 birthday, after an illness of four days from pleurisy, was followed seven hours later by his mate, who, long in failing health, collapsed and died suddenly as she was about to lie down to rest, following the excitement and stress occasioned by her husband's demise. She was four and a half years his junior.
Surviving them are two sons-Edgar J. Lybarker of Sagatuck, Mich., who wSurviving them are two sons-Edgar J. Lybarker of Sagatuck, Mich., who was long a resident of Elkhart, and Ernest J. Lybarker, who, with his wife and three daughters, lives on the home place, two and a half miles east of Adamsville. Only the two sons were ever born to the pioneer couple. Mr. Lybarker is also survived by two sisters-Mrs. Nancy Bement of Mason Township and Mrs. Henrietta Roberts of Ontwa Towhship. The double funeral will be held tomorrow, with services at 2 o'clock at the Mason Baptist church, half a mile north of the Lybarker home. Rev. Mr. Drake of the Methodist church at Edwardsburg will have charge of the services. The burial will take place at the Adamsville cemetery.

Mr. Lybarker, who was born in New York state on November 27, 1840 was brouMr. Lybarker, who was born in New York state on November 27, 1840 was brought to the eastern part of Mason township by his pioneer parents when he was seven years old. His wife, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Hazzard Andrus, early settlers in Ontwa township, just morth of Eagle Lake, was born in that pioneer home on February 23, 1845. Their marriage took place 56 years ago, and they located in the last home 50 years ago.
Mrs. Lybarker had been in poor health ever since the first of September, wMrs. Lybarker had been in poor health ever since the first of September, when she was stricker by a form of influenza. Mr. Lybarker was in normal health until last Thursday when he seized with a chill, and pleurisy developed. His condition improved Friday and Saturday, but a serious relapse was experienced on Sunday, and he gradually lost strength.

Chas. Bulhand, formerly a resident of Cassopolis, and for many years a resChas. Bulhand, formerly a resident of Cassopolis, and for many years a resident of southern Cass county, died at his home in Central Lake, in northern Michigan, last Friday afternoon. Funeral services were held there and burial was at Kalamazoo, Monday.
Deceased grew up in Cass county and and was married here to Miss Laura ThoDeceased grew up in Cass county and and was married here to Miss Laura Thomas, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Boyd Thomas. He is survived by his wife and one son, Don Bulhand, residing at home. Two sons preceded him in death, Harry at Kalamazoo and Fred, who was killed while on duty as a policeman in South Bend. He is also survived by two half-sisters, Mrs. Elmer Fuller of Cassopolis and Mrs. W. O. Jessup of Elkhart, and by one half-brother, Mack Mann of Santa Monica, Calif.

ANDRUS, LYBARKER, HARINGANDRUS, LYBARKER, HARING

Henry Andrus, editor of the Edwardsburg Argus and a prominent temperance wHenry Andrus, editor of the Edwardsburg Argus and a prominent temperance worker of Michigan, was born in Waterloo township, Lyon county, Kansas, near the town of Wilmington, on the 26 of October, 1861. His paternal grandfather, Hazzard Andrus, was a native of Kings county, New York, born October 3, 1788, and in 1835 came to Michigan with his family. He had been married in the Empire state in 1824 to Miss Fannie Bishop, and they were the parents of nine children, five of whom are deceased. The living are: James H., of Edwardsburg; Mrs. Porter Lybarker, of Mason township, Cass county; Nelson, of Dayton, Washington; and Riley, who is living at Dayton, Oregon. The grandparents remained residents of Edwardsburg until called to their final rest, Hazzard Andrus passing away on the 3d of March, 1962, while his wife, long surviving him, died January 29, 1894. James H. Andrus, father of our subject, was born in Ontwa township, at the north bank of Eagle lake, July 30, 1837, and remained a resident of this township until 1860, when he went to Kansas, where he was married on the 7th of October of that year to Miss Cylinda M. Haring, a daughter of Henry and Nancy Haring, who had also removed from Cass county to Kansas in that year. In 1862, Mr. Andrus returned with his family to Michigan, and in the course of years there were born unto him and his wife four children, three sons and a daughter. The latter, Cora M., died July 2, 1877. Those still living are: Henry; William Riley, of Michigan City, Indiana; and George S., of LaCrosse, Wisconsin. The mother, who was a native of New York, born December 9, 1840, was but two years of age when brought by her parents to Michigan, the Haring family being established in Mason township. Her death occurred October 4, 1903.

W. Riley Andrus, formerly of Cassopolis, died quite suddenly at his hoW. Riley Andrus, formerly of Cassopolis, died quite suddenly at his home in Michigan City last Thursday evening, aged 71 years. Mr. Andrus had been visiting with a neighbor in his home at about 5:30, when he suffered a stroke about 7:00 o'clock. Funeral services were held and internment made there.
Mr. Andrus, son of James H. and Cylinda (Haring) Andrus, was born in EdwarMr. Andrus, son of James H. and Cylinda (Haring) Andrus, was born in Edwardsburg, Aug. 4, 1864.
When a young man he came to Cassopolis to work for Pollock Bros. and remaiWhen a young man he came to Cassopolis to work for Pollock Bros. and remained here for a number of years. He was married here 47 years ago to Miss Zora VanMatre, daughter of the late Samuel C. VanMatre. About 40 years ago they moved to Michigan City, where he engaged in the laundry business and where he was quite successful in a business way, retiring a few years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Andrus had many friends in Cassopolis and were here with more or less frequency through the years About six years ago, with C. O. Stevens, he established the fox farm which the latter has operated north of this village.
Mrs. Andrus died three months ago. They are survived by one daughter, Bes Mrs. Andrus died three months ago. They are survived by one daughter, Besise, wife of W. W. Boyd of Waterloo, Iowa.

William Riley Andrus, aged 71 years, son of the late James H. and CylinWilliam Riley Andrus, aged 71 years, son of the late James H. and Cylinda Andrus, of this village, died suddenly about 7 o'clock Thursday evening, Dec., 5th, at his home in Michigan City, Ind. He was stricken while sitting in his armchair talking to a neighbor about 5:30 o'clock. J. K. Gray, a close friend and a physician were summoned. Death was due to a stroke. Mrs. Andrus died three months ago.

He had returned Tuesday night from Waterloo, Ia., where he had visited his daughter, Mrs. W. W. Boyd, since Thanksgiving. Yesterday he had called on many of his friends here and made plans to attend the International Stock Show in Chicago. He also intended to be present at the Republican rally last night . Mr. Andrus was born Aug. 4, 1864, in Edwardsburg, Mich., spending his youth in that state. He marries Izora VanMatre in Cassopolis, Mich., 47 years ago.
Six years after Mr. Andrus' marriage he arrived in Michigan City. He foundSix years after Mr. Andrus' marriage he arrived in Michigan City. He founded the Star Laundry and built up its business from the horse drawn carriage days to where the laundry operated a fleet of trucks.
Mr. Andrus sold out his business in 1922 and a year later founded the AndrMr. Andrus sold out his business in 1922 and a year later founded the Andrus Dry Cleaning in conjunction with George E. Trask. In 1928 Mr. Andrus retired.

Mr. and Mrs. Porter Lybarker, for many years residents of Mason townshiMr. and Mrs. Porter Lybarker, for many years residents of Mason township, passed away at their home Monday afternoon. Mr. Lybarker had been ill with an attack of pleurisy and Mrs. Lybarker passed away a few hours later from an attack of heart failure brought on by the shock of the death of her husband. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Swamp church, Rev. F. N. Drake, of this village, officiating. Burial was in Adamsville cemetery. Porter Lybarker was born in New York state Nov. 27th, 1840, being 82 years old on the day of his death. He came to Mason township about the year 1850. He was a veteran of the Civil War in which he served for three years. During this time he was captured and was confined for three months in a southern prison. He was one of the few survivors of the troopship Sultana, when it was burned on the Mississippi river just above New Orleans.

Ernest L. Lybarker, 66, a lifelong resident of Mason township, died at 9: Ernest L. Lybarker, 66, a lifelong resident of Mason township, died at 9:00 p.m. Sunday after having been seriously ill for about a week. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon with a brief prayer service at the home at 2:00 and a service in the Mason Baptist church at 2:30 conducted by Rev. Oral Duckworth. Burial was in the Adamsville cemetery.
Mr. Lybarker was a son of Porter and Lois (Andrus) Lybarker and was born SMr. Lybarker was a son of Porter and Lois (Andrus) Lybarker and was born Sept. 4, 1877 in Mason and had lived since two years old in the home where he passed away. He was married in 1904 to Miss Lillie Parker, who survives him, as do also three daughters, Mrs. Berdene Leich of Walkerton, Ind., Mrs. Nellie Heald of Elkhart and Mrs. Bessie Dorrier of Simonton Lake, and two grandchildren, Freddie Lee and James Everett Dorrier.
